Excavation and Dirt Work for Central Arkansas Home Sites, Farms, and Lake Lots
Most construction problems get decided before the first concrete truck arrives. Dirt Work Innovations digs, shapes, and moves earth for new homes, farm projects, and Greers Ferry Lake properties, working out of Heber Springs and covering Cleburne, Van Buren, White, and Faulkner County. If your plan starts with moving dirt, this is our part of it.

Types Of Excavation Work We Get Called For
Different properties need the machine for different reasons. These are the most common.
Site Excavation for New Builds
- Digs for houses, shops, barns, and garages
- Ground opened and shaped to the plan's elevations
- Handed over at rough grade, ready for pad and footing work
Cut and Fill to Grade
- High ground taken down, low ground built up
- Fill pulled from your own property where the site allows
- Rough grade left true so the next phase starts level
Farm and Acreage Earthwork
- Pasture and rural acreage reshaped so it drains and works
- Ruts, washes, and rough ground smoothed back into use
- Dirt moved in volume, from a single load to a full reshape
Excavation on Difficult Ground
- Wooded, sloped, and rocky sites worked without tearing up what stays
- Access and equipment routes figured out before the machine unloads
- Spoil placed on site where there is nowhere to haul it

One Contract From Raw Land to Build-Ready
Most sites need more than a dig. We handle the clearing before it and the pad, driveway, and drainage after, all on one estimate, so you are hiring one company instead of coordinating four.
The soil gets read before the estimate. What the ground is made of at pad depth, drive depth, and wherever water is going to sit.
Fill goes in when it will hold. Placed and compacted in lifts at the right moisture, so the pad does not settle out from under the slab.
Nothing gets built and then rebuilt. Driveway and drainage go in after the heavy work, on ground that has already been shaped and packed.
How We Work a Site
- 1
Walk It Before We Quote It
Every estimate starts on your property, on foot, because the ground tells you things a satellite photo never will.
- 2
Water Planned First
Before any dirt moves, we decide where water will go when it rains, then shape the whole site to send it there.
- 3
Placed and Packed
Fill goes in controlled, packed as it rises, so the elevation we leave is the elevation you keep.
- 4
Finished Means Ready
We leave rough grade true and the site clean, so whoever shows up next starts working instead of fixing.

What Bad Dirt Work Costs Later
The cheapest dig usually gets expensive around year two. Here is how that happens.
Loose fill settles for years.
Slabs crack, posts lean, and the level pad you paid for quietly stops being level.
No water plan means every storm finds one.
Central Arkansas has supplied plenty lately, and the path it picks is usually the foundation or the drive.
Three companies, three gaps.
Nobody owns the space between the dig, the pad, and the drainage, so the redo comes out of your pocket.

Common Questions We Get Before the Dig
These are the questions landowners ask before the machine goes on the property.
How much does excavation cost in Arkansas?
The price follows three things: how much dirt has to move, what that dirt is made of, and how hard your site is to reach with equipment. Rock, wet ground, long haul distances, and tight access all add machine hours, and machine hours are the cost. Nobody quoting sight unseen is quoting your property. We look at the site first, then hand you a written, itemized estimate with the real conditions priced in, anywhere in Cleburne County and the counties around it.
What does site excavation include?
The dig itself, the cut and fill that brings the site to plan elevation, and a rough grade shaped so water leaves the build area. Where the job needs it, that extends to opening access for equipment and managing spoil on the property. The end state is always the same: ground at the right height, draining the right direction, ready for pads and footings. We do this for homes, shops, barns, and farm buildings across Heber Springs, Clinton, Fairfield Bay, and the surrounding communities.
Does excavation include land clearing?
On wooded ground, yes, clearing is the first phase of the same job. Trees, brush, stumps, and root balls come out before the dig starts, under one estimate instead of two companies pointing at each other. Clearing is also a standalone service if that is all your property needs right now.
Can you dig in rocky ground?
Yes. A lot of Cleburne County sits shallow over rock, so around here that is a normal Tuesday, not a problem. What matters is knowing before the dig starts, because rock found in the estimate costs what the estimate says, while rock found mid-job blows up somebody's best-case number. We plan and price for what your ground is likely holding.
What areas do you serve for excavation?
Home base is Heber Springs, and the working range covers Cleburne, Van Buren, White, and Faulkner County: Greers Ferry, Fairfield Bay, Clinton, Quitman, Searcy, Conway, and the rural land between them. Bentonville and Mountain Home property owners with land in our area, we take those calls too. Not sure if you are in range? Ask, and you will know in one phone call.
